Port was created in 1995 for the Phillip Street vitrine windows of the Museum of Sydney. The title of the work refers to the role Sydney has played in opening the Pacific to global commerce and cultural exploration. Modelled on a Maori kete, this basket and panels are woven from posters carrying images of gifted Aboriginal topographer and translator Baloderee and a European topographic map of early Sydney.
